Downtown Welland BIA - Success through Collaboration

"We believe in community involvement, we believe in collaboration among everyone, and most important of all, we believe in our downtown..." ~Downtown Welland on Facebook

Not truer words could be said when it comes to working with Stephanie Hicks, Executive Director, Dolores Wright, President and their fellow members of the Downtown Welland BIA ( DWBIA).

It has been our privilege to work in partnership with the DWBIA since they joined with us in April 2014 as Founding Partners of our #myWelland community platform.

What an incredible three years it has been!

During that time the Downtown group has earned three recognition awards.

At the 2016 BIA National Conference the Welland Downtown BIA received their first Ontario Business Improvement Area Association (OBIAA) award  - the “Award of Distinction” for their submission of Welland Bridge 13 lighting project.

This year they were presented with two more awards:

Streetscaping and Public Realm small scale:  The DWBIA received this award for their partnership with the Niagara Catholic District School Board and the bike racks and benches that the Niagara Catholic Specialist High Skills Major Manufacturing Program (SHSMMP) fabricated for the WDBIA.

Leadership and Management –Accessibility Education. The Welland Downtown BIA has engaged the services of Justin, a young man from the area who has a disability. Justin is an avid volunteer in Welland and enjoys giving back. By engaging Justin’s services, the WDBIA is also demonstrating the true potential within its own catchment.

We are excited to begin another year of partnership with our friends at the Downtown Welland BIA - thank you sincerely for the renewal of your participation with

Yours in Community,
