Explore And Learn With Ride To Read
For the eighth consecutive year, Welland Transit and Welland Public Library are partnering to provide children with the opportunity to participate in the Ride to Read program. The program was initiated in 2012 to support a healthy community, foster community partnership, and provide fully accessible transportation to and from the Welland Library for children ages 4-14.
Free and easy transportation encourages children to continue reading during the summer months and experience public transit. Staff from the Welland Library and Welland Transit hope to see the program inspire Welland’s children to get moving and get reading. The program commences Friday, June 28, 2019.
- Youth 14 years of age and younger can enjoy free rides to the library branches on Welland Transit all summer long by showing their stickered library card upon boarding any conventional service bus. Children, ages 4-9, must be accompanied by an adult (14 years and older). One adult accompanying the child can ride for free. One adult can accompany no more than four children.
- Ride to Read pass stickers are available at the Welland Public Library and provided to Welland Library Card holders 4-14 years of age.
- Youth ages 10-14 are free and can ride alone.
- Service runs Fri. June 28, 2019, to Sat. Aug. 31, 2019.
