Each year, the Welland-Pelham Chamber of Commerce celebrates the spirit of business in our community with the Ruby Awards. Seven unique awards highlighting excellence in the areas of local business, community involvement and youth enrichment are presented at our Gala Reception. Named after instrumental Chamber founder Ruby Quaker, the awards are a commemoration of excellence in local business and community involvement.

Niagara College is taking its expertise in experiential learning across the country, through a new toolkit designed to help businesses, organizations and schools design, implement and evaluate effective educational programs that give students real-world experience. 

Niagara Health is working with patients, families, partners and communities on the path to a healthier Niagara. Receiving international recognition with 17 Leading Practices that hospitals around the world can use to improve quality and safety in their organization was one of the highlights celebrated today at Niagara Health’s Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Niagara College’s Research & Innovation division is set to offer small- and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) a way to advance their products, improve their performance, or take an innovative leap forward, through the College Voucher for Technology Adoption (CVTA) program. CVTA is delivered by Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) in partnership with Colleges Ontario.

 

For the eighth consecutive year, Welland Transit and Welland Public Library are partnering to provide children with the opportunity to participate in the Ride to Read program. The program was initiated in 2012 to support a healthy community, foster community partnership, and provide fully accessible transportation to and from the Welland Library for children ages 4-14.

The third day of Niagara College’s 2019 Spring Convocation saw two of Niagara’s most influential health and community advocates share their life experiences and advice with Niagara College graduates.

The City of Welland and Pathstone Mental Health are pleased to close a gap in services by offering youth a mental health walk-in clinic every Monday in the city’s downtown core. The Hear & Now Mental Health Clinic is located at the John Howard Society and will offer counselling for children, youth, their parents, and caregivers with one-on-one services with a mental health clinician.

The City of Welland is embarking on a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study to update its current Pollution Prevention Control Plan and Wastewater Master Servicing Plan. The study and public engagement campaign follow a partnership announcement from Niagara Adapts on Monday, June 17, 2019.

It started as a simple idea to raise money in honour of two friends lost to cancer. Now, five years later, the On Board paddling event launched by Madeline Leblanc returns to the Welland Recreational Canal Sunday, July 21.
