Niagara College is preparing to welcome future business leaders from across the province as this year’s host of the 2019 Ontario Colleges’ Marketing Competition.

While many people visiting the Niagara Parkway this holiday season will be enjoying the coloured lights that mark holiday cheer and fun, two local attractions will use their lights to bring awareness to a more serious issue: domestic violence.

For any number of reasons, that’s not always possible. If you have to suddenly relocate for work, for example, you may have only days to make your home “show ready” for the market.

What should you do? The answer is: the essentials.

As part of their initiative to support ‘November is Woman Abuse Prevention Month’ Renouveau LIH Donate Thrift Shop has made arrangements to start distributing Gift Vouchers to Women’s Place of South Niagara (WPSN) – but they are in need of community sponsors to make this possible!

Please join us on December 8th for a fundraising dinner in support of Renouveau’s humanitarian work in Costa Rica.

Our own Naomie Cesar who has been doing humanitarian work for several years is now fundraising for her first humanitarian trip to Costa Rica. Join us on December 6th for a dinner fundraising event! See details below and SHARE, SHARE, SHARE

These investments in the city’s Recreation Corridor align with other development projects planned for 2020, which include the construction of a new community boathouse to accommodate the city’s Boat Rental Program, washrooms, change rooms, and expanded parking. In addition to the creation of the Rotary Club of Welland Park that will include new signage, additional docks for unsupervised swimming, and a reflection garden to help commemorate the club’s 100th Anniversary in 2020.

Niagara College will mark its 20th year of applied research activity with the honour of earning the number one spot in all of Canada for research. In its annual report “Top 50 Research Colleges,” Research Infosource Inc. has announced that Niagara College has secured the top place in the country, based on total research funding numbers for 2018. The listing also demonstrates NC’s steady standing as a leader in research in Canada, as this represents the fifth year in a row of being in the Top 10.

This fall, Niagara College will open its doors to prospective students for an interactive look inside all that college life has to offer. On Saturday, November 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the College will welcome students, parents and families for its Fall Open House, to explore programs, facilities and services at both its innovative campuses in Welland and Niagara-on-the-Lake. Future students can engage with faculty, staff, and current students to help guide their journey to postsecondary education.

From November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to December 10th, International Human Rights Day, CFUW will be raising awareness to help put an end to violence against women and girls.
