We founded our myNiagaraOnline Community Platform in 2009 with the vision that inclusivity and improved connectivity expands the economic development capacity of all local communities.

Our collaborative network functions based on a social enterprise business model providing the opportunity for all sectors of our community to share their stories and events with our highly engaged #myNiagara audience.

At the Niagara Social Enterprise Forum, held on January 30, 2016, social entrepreneurs from across the region gathered to initiate the process of co-creating what social entrepreneurship/enterprise training and support will look like in Niagara.  Social Enterprise Niagara emerged as a group to continue the work of building a healthy, agile social entrepreneurial ecosystem in Niagara.

Social Enterprise Niagara (#SENiagara ) aims to change the way we do business in Niagara. It’s not just about making profit – the private, public and non-profit sectors are joining forces to tackle our most pressing social and economic issues and create impactful change in our communities and around the world.

In April 2017 we just officially announced the launch of SocialEnterpriseNiagara.ca - a new website designed to connect Niagara’s social entrepreneurs and offer updates, resources and opportunities to join the conversation around social entrepreneurship.

Our June 28th Meetup is a collaboration with the Niagara Co-op Network & First Ontario Credit Union to screen a documentary!

A New Economy is feature documentary about people making a fresh start towards building a new economy. Watch as several organizations move towards a more cooperative future by experimenting with open and non-traditional business models. By rewarding human effort fairly and proportionately instead of obsessing about the bottom line, these revolutionary businesses are creating a more people-friendly future, creating new ways to make money and make it sustainably.

A New Economy  features seven interwoven stories. Among them are a small craft-brew coop, a  peer-to-peer open hardware lab and an urban agricultural social enterprise.

Following the film, participants are encouraged to join an open forum discussion.
