Flags for Remembrance
4 years ago the youth members of 20th Welland Scouting undertook a task to mark the graves of all those that served Canada and are buried in Welland's Cemeteries. The cemeteries include the Smith Street Cemetery, the City of Welland's Woodlawn and Crowland Cemetery and Holy Cross Cemetery.
Since that initial first time we have grown from marking just over 100 graves to now getting ready to mark over 250 as we have found more graves and by relatives letting us know after seeing the newspaper articles in the past.
We will be out on Nov 3rd starting at 1pm in Woodlawn Cemetery to mark all those that served Canada, our allies, the Canadian Legion along with fallen police and fire service members.
We are asking for the public's help to let us know of any graves of relatives that have served but do not have any marking indicating they have served.
Help us give the respect those that have served deserve.
